儿童发展
The 儿童发展 Program is designed for those who have a desire to work with children infancy through adolescence. The program will give students the knowledge they need to understand and teach young children at a day care center or equip them with the foundation needed to continue their education at a four-year university. 学生 can earn an Associate in Applied Science degree that requires 66 hours of courses while a short-term certificate is available and requires 27 hours. Program courses are offered on the Ayers and Wallace Drive campuses.

Gadsden State students can earn a degree in General Studies with the option of focusing in 历史. 历史, Social or Behavioral Science courses are required for associate degrees. Available 历史 courses include Western Civilization, World 历史, U.S. 历史, 历史 of World 宗教s, African-American 历史 and Alabama 历史.
家庭经济
家庭经济 courses can be taken as pre-professional or pre-major elective for those who are working toward an associate degree or plan to transfer to a four-year university. 课程 in 家庭经济 includes Principles of Nutrition and Management in Family Living.
人类服务
An Associate in Applied Science in 人类服务 is available for those seeking employment or to further their education to become a social worker, 药物滥用顾问, 案例管理器, 社区外展工作者, 缓刑监督官等等. The AAS requires 71 hours of coursework.
哲学
哲学 is the study of the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality and existence. Two courses are offered – Introduction to 哲学 and Ethics and Society – and can be applied to requirements for an Associate in Science in 哲学.
政治科学
政治科学 courses are available to students interested in the systems of government as well as the analysis of political activity and behavior. There are four 政治科学 courses available for students pursuing an associate degree or transferring to a four-year university. 课程 include American National Government, 州和地方政府, Comparative Government and Survey of 国际 Relations.
心理学
学生 can focus on 心理学 while earning an Associate in Science in General Studies. 心理学 courses are also available as electives to students pursuing other associate degrees. Available courses include General 心理学, Human Growth and Development and Abnormal 心理学.
宗教
学生 can earn an associate degree in General Studies with a focus on 宗教. 课程 offered are 历史 of World 宗教s, Survey of the Old Testament and Survey of the New Testament.
社会学
社会学 is the study of society, patterns of social relationships, social interaction and culture of everyday life. 学生 can earn an Associate in Science degree with a focus in 社会学. There are several courses to choose from, including Introduction to 社会学, 犯罪学概论, 青少年犯罪, 社会问题, Criminal and Deviant Behavior and Marriage and the Family.
